In February 2017, everything changed in the blink of an eye.

Due to revised immigration policies, I was sent back to my homeland from the USA, unexpectedly and painfully separated from my beautiful wife and two young children — my son, just 10, and my daughter, only 6. One moment we were a family under one roof. The next, I was thousands of miles away, back in my home country, stripped of everything familiar and uncertain about the future.

The worst part? I didn’t even get to say goodbye properly.

My children kept asking my wife, “Where’s Dad?” But how do you explain something like that to young hearts? My wife, devastated herself, couldn’t find the words — and for a while, she didn’t say anything at all. The silence between us was heavy, the distance unbearable.

I was lost. I felt like giving up.

But then something inside me whispered: “Strive to be positive.”

A New Beginning from Rock Bottom

With no clear path ahead, I started teaching English online. It wasn’t glamorous, but it gave me purpose. To help myself cope, I began writing short, uplifting quotes — little reminders that pain wasn’t the end of the story. I needed those words as much as anyone else did.

Eventually, I opened a TikTok account to share my lessons, thoughts, and daily affirmations. It was on that platform that the idea was born — Strive To Be Positive. What started as a survival instinct became a mission, a mindset, and now… a movement.
